Even Better Than Expected

By Kent R. Brannon(Owner), May. 27, 2013

I purchased this guy about a month ago as a commuter; at the same time I sold my two last BMW R1150R Rocksters because I was getting tired of the cost of maintaining them.

This thing gets about 85-mpg. It the first vehicle I've owned with higher 'mpg' than 'mph'.

Every review you read about this... thing will say something like "this bike is better than its on-paper specs suggest" and I heartily second that. Yes, at only 150-cc this is not a quick bike. It is, however, the fastest stock 4-stroke 150-cc I have ever ridden. The first gear is low, too low for me, so I will be changing the sprocket as soon as I get around to it. Stock this bike is rated at 65.5-mph, with the new sprocket I might expect 70 or so.
This fit and finish is exemplary; this is the kind of small bike that Honda USED to build. Yes, Honda fit and finish is great on their more expensive bikes, but Honda's smaller offerings (here's looking at you Rebel) show that Team Red isn't taking the U.S. small-displacement market very seriously. I've seen what Honda sells overseas and it's a far better selection.
This bike has chrome and real metal fenders, Mercedes-quality paint, quality fork-gators, quality Japanese final-drive chain, everything good, nothing bad.
This is also one of only 4-or-so modern bikes/scooters with a proper kick-starter (plus CDI ignition). So if your battery ever goes dead, no problem. I use the kick-starter exclusively just because I like that old-school feel and connection with the bike.
If you are looking for a first bike, or an inexpensive commuter to complement your 800-pound Honda-Davidson, take a look at this bike.
